A Small Team on the Shoulder of Open Source Software

Most of the open source projects that are based on our digital world have been managed by a rather small team. The research conducted shows that the full 11 of the 23 critical projects installed on the shoulder of the internet is run only by one or two people. This finding illustrates how fragile technology infrastructure is.
Reasons and results of this situation of open source software:
-Source failure: Volunteer developers have to work without paying several hours per week
- Operating power density: All liability from Critical security patches to code review falls to a few people
- The risk of pregnancy: In one or two developers, disease, separation or motivation loss can jeopardize the project
- Security clears: The possibility of avoiding errors and openness with limited human strength is increasing
- ** slowing down of innovation**: Maintenance tasks are more than new features
Although thousands of companies and government are dependent on these projects, the majority of developers do not get financial support or recognition. Large technology organizations provide tremendous earnings from open source software, people who build them are often overlooked. This model is not sustainable in the long run.
The problem’s solution points out that organizations invest more on the open source community, and their development should be met. Otherwise, our digital infrastructure can stand the heart.
