The future of scientific research is from being able to control complex experiment management in software. A new research offers a system that makes physical laboratories calculated and allows experiments to be verified. This approach combines the physical reality of the laboratory by expressing scientific information to be readable by the machine.

The developed system is installed on three basic components:

  • The laboratory equipment and data are represented in standardized formats with written research objects (typed research objects)
  • Ability limiting operations (capability-bound operations) to control what processes can be done when
  • The compositional workflow pocket (compositional flow algebra) is able to express the developing laboratory status as a program

This type of representation allows the laboratory to identify changing situations over time through a computational language. Thus, experiment procedures are not only the steps people follow, but they turn to computer-correctable, repeatable and optimized programs.

As a result, this system prepares ground to become more transparent, reusable and scalable than science. Research institutions can provide workflows thanks to this technology and improve the reliability of experimental findings.
