Quick developments in artificial intelligence offer new possibilities in analyzing public policy. However, this technology has not yet been fully understood to be really reliable. A new research released in arXiv is trying to fill this gap.

The system called GPS-Bench was designed to measure the accuracy of policy simulations made by **big language models (LLM):

  • Forecasting the results of policy recommendations is no longer limited only to passing/Uninstall the invasion; affected parties include modeling behavior changes and chaining effects
  • Benchmark aims to solve the model accuracy problem by comparing simulated behavior directly with real world results
  • LLM-based governance creates a standard based on evidence to establish the validity of simulations

Although the fundamental problem of the research can make plausible (max) predictions of artificial intelligence systems used for policy analysis, it is unable to know how accurate these predictions are. GPS-Bench is a solid foundation for academics and policy makers to trust LLM based simulations by offering solutions to this problem.

This development opens the way of implementing artificial intelligence more reliably in public management and policy design.
