Speaking about your internet connection, speed and bandwidth terms are often mixed. Yet these two concepts offer completely different metrics and understand both, it is necessary for a better internet experience. Engadget’s detailed analysis explains these important distinctions that are often overlooked.

  • Internet speed measures how quickly data is transferred from one point to another; expressed in Mbps (seconds permegabit) -Bant width defines the maximum amount of data that a connection can be transported; the capacity indicator is different from speed
  • Speed specifies the potential limit of bandwidth while the actual performance measure; both were not optimized Tags
  • In networks with the same bandwidth, different speed values can be experienced, which affects user experience
  • Activities such as video conference, file download and game play have different bandwidth needs

If we consider practically, the bandwidth is similar to the diameter of a water pipe; the speed is similar to the speed of the flowing water from that pipe. Even if there is a large pipe, water can slowly flow, but fast flowing water in a narrow pipe is also limited to the same degree.

The connection issues that you live in your home are caused by the lack of bandwidth at any time, whether you’re experiencing lower performance than the alert speed or interruptions in the video stream. By doing the right diagnostic, it provides a more stable and fast internet experience to optimize both your speed and your bandwidth.
