Stripe and investment company Advent Capital Management’s attempt to purchase PayPal is seen. After the claim and negotiations that are leaked in the press at the beginning of this month, the partnership decided to give up this big merger plan. No tangling agreement in Hamlede was one of the most critical talks of the fintech industry.

The parties do not make this decision:

  • Constant complexity: PayPal’s corporate structure and existing shareholders structure forced the terms of purchase
  • Market rating: It is likely that PayPal does not meet the expectations between the parties of its current value
  • **Activities: The challenges of integrating Stripe’s own technology infrastructure with PayPal systems
-Time and welding factor: The necessary regulatory approvals and transactional obstacles for such a mega merger

As one of the most rooted digital payment platforms in the world, PayPal has taken into account what challenges such a purchasing initiative carries. The merger of Stripe’s payment technology with PayPal’s huge user base could create a huge power in the fintech industry in theory. However, in practice, it is understood that the agreement has become financial, legal and technically managed.

This development reminds that consolidation in digital payment industry is not always easy. This decision of Stripe and Advent shows how attractive companies are strategic targets, but they can show flexibility across the reality of the market.
