The iconic music player of 90s and 2000s Winamp is preparing to reenter the digital music flow market by cooperating with Deezer. The company announced that the new platform planned to launch in 2027 will work with a monthly subscription model. This move aims to withdraw old users by combining nostalgia and modern flow technology.

The main features of Winamp’s rebirth:

  • Deezer partnership with the platform that will offer access to millions of songs
  • The income model with monthly subscription system will race with competitors such as Spotify and Apple Music
  • 2027 targets provide time for development and improvement
  • plan to offer nostalgic experience with retro design elements
  • Support modern mobile and web applications

Winamp has identified music listening experience since its foundation in 1997. Then the software developed by Nullsoft affected the “Llama frying” meme and million with iconic skin designs. The platform fell older with the rise of streaming services but continued as an open source by a group of developers.

New Winamp is trying to adapt to changes in digital music market. Deezer’s catalog support and modern technology infrastructure can keep the old player competitive. Up to 2027 improvements will be critical to attract both new users and satisfy old fans.
