Artificial intelligence systems are now playing a central role in the development of future AI models. But when does this cyclic feedback turn into a momentum that manifests itself? A new arXiv research is looking for answers to this question.

The study offers a mathematical model to examine the conditions that AI can improve itself:

  • Recursive feedback cycle: AI systems can accelerate the creation of next generation systems by joining the research and development process
  • Recursive Reproduction Number (R AI): A critical metric that determines whether research is amplified
  • Research difficulty factor: The more difficult the progress, the effect of the feedback cycle is limited -Basic research efficiency: Start productivity sets the scale of the entire system

The model analyzes the dynamics of three basic variables: basic research capacity, recursive feedback strength and increased complexity of research problems. Mathematical relationship of these factors indicate whether the development is with an accountable growth, or with a speedy exponentially increase.

Such analyses are critical to predict the future speed of AI development and identify potential risk points. It is possible to be on the edge of not going under wrong conditions.
