Does Security Gates Work Independent For AI Agents?

The security mechanisms developed to ensure that artificial intelligence agents use the tools correctly consist of multiple control layers stacked on each other. However, these layers are really controversial for a long time they work independently. A new research systematically examines this question.
Basic findings of research:
-1.119 labeled agent action analyzed; a part of the data was previously published from three different data sets, the rest is collected from the actual use.
- Control architecture ** contains a decisive layer of rules and four LLM**; three of them are regenerated with each call record.
- The researchers modeled each control stack as the number of “push equivalent layer” (n mult) and they calculated the theoretical lower limit of this value.
- Adjustable adversarial without attacks tests were conducted in a realistic environment, so the findings may not fully reflect the behavior in live systems.
The results show that unlike common beliefs can be strong addictives among layers. The assumption that errors are simply multiply may not apply. This finding carries important interests in the design of agent security systems. Engineers can have to rethink the architecture to make control mechanisms independent. Advanced studies are researching how these systems behave under adaptive attacks.
