With the rapid development of artificial intelligence technology, AI agents that can work independently on behalf of individual users become more realistic. A new research published in arXiv reveals a study titled DelegateEval, addressing how to evaluate such systems.

Research defines a new category defined as personal external service agent:

  • Continuously managed agents authorized by a particular individual
  • authorization to accept customer requests, deliver business and provide ongoing support
  • Working using the knowledge, experience, professional methods and service limits of the owner
  • The potential for individuals to provide services with less direct intervention to more customers

Such agents offer an important opportunity for free professionals, consultants and service providers. An individual can reach a wider customer base without being inserted into time constraints by encoded their own expertise and methods.

DelegateEval research aims to develop assessment platforms and metrics to measure effectiveness, reliability and service quality of these agents objectively. The study is a critical step to understand how AI agents perform in real-world service scenarios.
