Huawei launched a new period on smartphone cameras. The plugin lens developed for Mate 90 Pro Max completely redefined the teleconverter technology and leaves the strategy of its competitors behind.

In recent years, Vivo launched plugin lens trend was followed by manufacturers such as Oppo and Xiaomi. But Huawei’s approach is an important difference:

  • The first plug-in camera with own sensor: Huawei lens contains not only optical system, 1 inch image sensor
  • Zoom capacity reaching funny sizes: Teleconverter makes it possible to photograph the distances that the phone can never reach itself
  • Independent processing power: The sensor is included, the add-on camera will stay less dependent on the phone in photo processing

This approach is a radical change in the axisesoar camera ecosystem. Previous plugin lenses were simple optical extensions that use the main sensor on the phone. Huawei’s solution works like a nearly independent camera system.

The future of phone photography can yacht in such modular and expandable systems. Huawei’s attempt is likely to encourage other manufacturers to develop similar strategies. The technology industry continues to expand the limits of what the phone can be.
