Large language models (LLM) based multi-factor systems are increasingly used in critical decision making such as recruitment. But not only examine the final results, it is not enough to figure out where the system is error in the decision-making process. New research offers a solution called SCOPED-Hiring to fill this gap.

SCOPED-Hiring is a diagnostic tool designed to reveal hidden bias in LLM-based recruitment systems:

  • Creating controlled and modified CV versions and providing evaluation by the system
  • Role-based recruitment committees create realistic decision environments by simulation
  • More than 311,000 structured decision-making journey saves detailed data collection
  • The decision shows the bias occurred in what step by converting trajektory into an analysisable format

This approach significantly differentiates from traditional “punch-based” fairness control. A system that looks fair as a result can actually make systematic discrimination in various stages of decision-making process. SCOPED-Hiring allows developers to interfere with.

Research represents an important step in increasing the safety of artificial intelligence use in high-risk areas. Transparency and fairness of recruitment systems are critical to both candidates and employers.
